What do I put in my bag on Field Day?

The key to a successful day is a perfectly curated bag, am I right?

This theory checks out in the teaching world for sure. You gotta have the right bag o’ stuff on regular teaching days, field trips, and of course Field Days.

Essential Teacher Bag Field Day Checklist:

As much as I love my 40oz Simply Modern tumbler *with a straw (Stanley’s superior AND cheaper sister)… for field day I need a smaller, completely leak-proof option that I can throw-and-go without stressing about spills or drops.

02 // Backpack

I love me a good water-resistant, drawstring backpack for field day. The cheaper (with solid reviews) the better! You don’t have a ton to carry on field day but enough that not having a bag is total a headache.

Or cap? What do you call it? I like a neutral baseball hat-cap for Field Day because my skin is not prepared for summer sun quite yet and nobody likes a burnt, overheated teacher. (One caveat: this is not a hat-hair-proof hat so wear at your own risk accepting all hair consequences for the remainder of the day!)

Yes, the nurse will still be close by, but for minor scrapes, I like to have bandaids on hand. (Bonus tip: Take your pad of nurse passes and a pen outside with you - and any other passes your school utilizes for that matter. Take post-its at the very least.)

Definitely a necessity. Here are some super cute, cheap options.

Ok…YES, these might be made for doggie waste but TRUST ME they have been a GAME-CHANGER in my Field Day life. Great for students (and you) to toss in wet clothes, shoes, towels, whatever and keep it from soaking their backpacks. Win!

07 // Whistle

I hate navigating field day with a ton of lanyards hanging on my next so I like a good plastic wrist whistle worn like a super posh Cleopatra bicep cuff. (And you can’t beat getting so many for so cheap just in case you lose it or drop it on the ground).

These are great for protecting Field Day game instructions, rotations, class list, and more! On the years I didn’t have these, I just brought a gallon ziploc bag - which by the way, doubles as a solid phone protector.

09 // Sunscreen

This is self-explanatory but I just discovered this brand recently and it’s green (like, in the crunchy sense) and lightweight so a girl’s gotta share!

These are my MUST haves. Other things to consider bringing to Field Day: chapstick, hair ties, towel, walkie talkie, snack, folding lawn chair (hey, a girl can dream).

I hope you have a great field day!
