What’s a good read-aloud for Father’s Day?

Looking for a fun, easy read-aloud for Father’s Day? I’ve got you covered! Here’s my favorite for this year:

Dandy” by Ame Dyckman

This adorable book follows the story of a dandelion and a father that wants to get rid of it… until he realizes his daughter Charlotte loves it (and has named it). How will Daddy find a way to get rid of the errant dandelion without breaking his little girl's heart?

I like that this is a book about a father and child relationship without being too straight-to-the-emotions sentimental. Also, as a now-parent with a thriving yard of various protected wildflowers, (read: weeds) and a botanist environmental warrior for a child… it is a story I (and many parents and kids) can relate to. The perfect mixture of relatable, funny, and heartwarming.

P.S. This was the 2020 Missouri Building Blocks Award winner which is a great list for funny books for younger students.
