What’s a cute, easy snack for a class winter party?

Ever have a class party where each student got 3 cupcakes for the “snack”? Just me?

Well, after that supersized sugar rush, I realized I needed a snack with a little fruit to balance out the sweet. (Let’s not mention fruit has sugar too, ok?) BUT I also wanted it to be cute, so… enter the Grinch (or Santa) fruit kabobs!

These are great because they don’t require much prep OR heaps of fruit (it’s expensive!). I’ll teach you how to make them below! Better yet, see if you have a room parent that can glove up and assemble them for you OR have students do a Build-Your-Own station.

Easy Grinch Winter Party Treat for Elementary Teachers

Supplies needed:

  • Green Grapes (1-2 bags)

  • Strawberries (1-2lbs)

  • Bananas (3-4)

  • Mini Marshmallows (1 bag)

  • Toothpicks (1 per student)

Directions:

  1. Cut the green tops off of the strawberries

  2. Cut bananas into slices (note: Don’t do this too early or they will turn mushy!)

  3. Grab a toothpick and layer grape, banana, strawberry (wide side up again the banana), and finally the mini marshmallow

  4. Serve and enjoy! (Note: Make sure students understand there is a toothpick in the center - you may need to demonstrate how to slide the fruit off for younger students)

Ta da! You have a Grinch / Santa / festive treat!
